Areas of endemism of Jamaica: inferences from Parsimony Analysis of Endemism based on amphibian and reptile distributions

Islands represent interesting biogeographic features often defined by unique and dynamic geological biological components. Such systems serve as examples of the basic fundamental units biogeographical analyses: areas endemism. The island Jamaica is recognized possessing a biota with large number herpetofauna species persisting only within island. Further, exhibits geologic history characterized an easterly migration repeated inundation, resulting in contemporary formed through dispersal. Here, we infer endemism across based on 57 amphibian reptile distributions using Parsimony Analysis Endemism (PAE). We recover 19 concentrated two regions: Blue Mountains region diagnosed 8 taxa west/central limestone plateau including Cockpit Country western Dolphin Head region, 9 taxa.
